Original woodcut from J. Stumpf's Swiss Chronicle (Schweitzer Chronik). Published in Zurich by Ch. Froschauer, 1548. The maps are prepared by Johannes Stumpf (1500-1576) and the maps are engraved by Heinrich I. Vogtherr (1490-1556) from Strassburg.
Covers the area from Lake Geneva in the south, to Berne, Zurich, Lucern etc
Mountains and rivers flamboyantly engraved making this not only one of the earliest but certainly the most decorative. A work of art as well as a map.
