Rare map of Madras.

Ornate plan of Madras, India, showing the fort and the city in street level, as well as showing images of the French fleet, and naming the ships individually. The map has a decorative cartouche, and has printed references along the left side of the plate identifying the places of interest. A good 18th Century plan.

Interestingly Roque's famous and rare plan of 1751 was taken from Hinton's inc the placing & number of galleons.
