PERU

£250

Stunning map of Peru , with a larte inset of the coastline to the South.

Very detailed Andes and coastal region with all the known Inca towns Cuzco etc and archeological sites marked. Interesting is the attelpt to name and place some of the Amazon / rainforest tribes eg Mobmas Cavibas called by Spaniards cabezasargas Big Heads , and the Barbudos the bearded tribe !

The detail of the map during this period or Revolution in South America is truly remarkable. Highly detailed regional map, one of the best regional maps of the area to appear in an English Atlas during the period. Pinkerton's now rare elephant folio atlas is one of the best engraved works of the period. While lesser known than the more common atlases by Cary & Thomson, it is a superior work, especially in the detail of the maps.

Printed on heavy paper.
