Attractive map based on Blaeu's map.
Very unusual copper engraved map of Brazil, by John Nieuhoff [Nieuhof] (1618-1672).
The map extends from Rio de la Plata to Guiana and the Atlantic ocean and from two mythical lakes (Lake Parima and Lake Xarayes).
Two decorative cartouches with the native Americans, some animals and a lot of details on the map. Two nice compass. The north is oriented to the right.
The cartography of the interior of the country is largely blank except for some conjectural mapping of Amazon.
Excellent hand colour
Very good condition.
