David Roberts' magnificent images of Egypt and the Holy Land rank amongst the finest topographical views of the nineteenth century. David Roberts (1796-1864) RA RBA Scottish painter best known for his series of fine lithographic prints of the Near East after sketches made from his tours from 1838-1840. The lithographs were published in a six volume elephant folio work rom 1842-1849.
